Relocating to Dominica

Politics

The politics in Dominica takes place in a framework  of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister is the head of government,  and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both government and the House of Assembly. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.  A President and a Prime Minister make up the executive branch.The President is elected by the Parliament.The Prime Minister and the cabinet are responnsible to the parliament and can be removed on a no-confidence vote. 

Economy

Allthough the the Commonwealth of Dominica is becoming in recent years a major International financial centre,Tourism and agriculture, with bananas as the principal crop, is still Dominica's economic mainstay.

Island Living

The "Nature Isle of the Caribbean" is a tiny largely covered by rainforest island located  in the Eastern Caribbean. There primary population centres are the Capital Roseau and Portsmouth. English and Creole dialect are spoken.

TEMPORARY HOUSING:
Will be provided while visiting the island to search for a property or while the assignees are waiting for the house.
 
SHORT TERM RENTALS: are considered being from one 3 days to 6 month period maximum in some islands. The price of the rent would be twice or more than the price of a long term rental because it includes all the utilities and housewares, furniture and decorations.
 
LONG TERM RENTALS : are for a period minimum of 6 months on and can be furnished or unfurnished. The price of the rent is less than a short term because all utilities are paid by lessee unless some can be included in the rent when we negotiate the terms of the contract.
